| Library: 1601 - CORBA Base Object Model for TMS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Document Status: Date submitted: 5/10/2005
In March 2001 -- The Joint Committee approved the C2C WG proposal to revise the WG's Work Plan, and start development of an object model. The proposal said, "... Develop base object models for CORBA, starting with the traffic management domain (ATMS). The object models will initially include primitive classes (e.g. location, identification, date/time), base classes (e.g., center, event, device, vehicle, person), and traffic management classes (e.g., dynamic message signs, traffic signals, traffic congestion, events/incidents). Where appropriate, the latter will be based on NTCIP center-to-field “objects”. The organization and name of the standards document resulting from this work is subject to refinement, but for now, a suggested working title is “Object Models for ITS Communications using CORBA”. In June 2001 -- As recommended by the TCF in their meeting on 6/2, the NTCIP Coordinator assigned to the C2C WG the document number 1601 for the approved work item "CORBA Base Object Model for Transportation Management Systems." This was the first document in the new reserved number series "NTCIP 1600" for "Object Models." March 2002 -- a proposed User Comment Draft was offered to the Joint Committee. The document was the start of an object model for center-to-center interfaces in the traffic management domain, including Interface Definition Lanugage (IDL) code for use in CORBA interfaces. April 2002 -- the Joint Committee accepted NTCIP 1601 v01.04 as a User Comment Draft. Although incomplete, the Joint Committee and C2C WG wished to solicit comments from the user community. July 2002 -- NTCIP Standards Bulletin B0078 sent NTCIP 1601 v01.05 to AASHTO, ITE, and NEMA members for comment. All interested parties were invited to comment by 8/30/02. On 8/16, ITE requested comments by 9/16. May 2005 -- the NTCIP Center to Center Working Group has suspended the work on this standard. There are only three known deployments using CORBA and no known plans for future use. This standard is withdrawn. What's Available:
