In Fiscal Year 2002 -- FHWA funding was received to sponsor updates to the previous 9002 to 9004 case studies. In October 2001, a project team was selected and started work on the case study updates.

December 2002 -- the City of Phoenix, Arizona completed the successful integration of their NTCIP Advanced Traffic Management System with the Peek Corporation’s NEMA TS_2-based traffic signal controllers.

Phoenix uses the TransCore, Inc. Series 2000 traffic signal management system as the foundation for its ATMS.

Peek joined Econolite Control Products, Inc. in achieving the first successful multi-vendor NTCIP integration for traffic signal control in the Phoenix system.

In October 2002 -- the Joint Committee on the NTCIP accepted the draft case studies amendments (including 900X A1) as Recommended Information Reports.
